Chandigarh 21st December:- The annual re-union of Old Yadavindrians Association (OYA), the alumni body of Yadavindra Public School (YPS) Mohali, bringing back memories of the good old school days took place at Taj Chandigarh on the wintery Saturday Night. This year the Old Yadvindrians Association Reunion Dinner, the Masquerade Ball, saw the batch of 1990 celebrating their silver jubilee. It also saw the launch of the online portal of OYA.
An event which is most-awaited and a must attend by the almuni of YPS has always been the most cherished event of the season. This year too, the Ball brought the old students from all across the globe virtually, right from USA, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, and of course India.
The 2015 Masquerade Ball saw a host of interesting activities, especially the OYA SMS quest running for eight days, which checked the alumni's general knowledge and awareness regarding the history of YPS. The winner of this quest, Prabhdeep Singh Ghai from the Class of 2011 was chauffeured in the amazing looking Range Rover Sport. OYA had lined up eight Jaguar Land Rover cars & SUVs that picked up and dropped the School Headmistress, former teachers and other dignitaries.The old batch visited the school a day before the reunion and planted saplings there in memory of those fellow students and teachers who were not with them anymore.
As per Kushal Pal Singh Mann, President OYA that the Class of 1990 will fund and set up a state-of-the art centralised drinking water system for the school". He further informed that, "OYA has partnered with Fortis Hospital Mohali for a free medical check-up for EWS employees of YPS and their dependents as well.
Another student of 1990 batch, Gulshan Chabra informed that it was wonderful to reconnect with the old friends and enjoyed playing basketball match with them.
Along with this fanfare, the students have made a point to remember their old teachers, as they gave away the obituary to Dr. Harish Dhillon, the longest serving school principal and an eminent Historian and writer.
The annual event saw live performance by a reputed band, Fariyaad Fusion. The event was graced by Jarnail Singh Bajwa, who was the guest of honour for the evening. The fun-filled evening was a night to remember with some lucky couples who walked away with the made for each other couple prize, along with other prizes for best dressed male and female. Interestingly, the judges were the young Class of 2015 joining the OYA fraternity this year.
