Chandigarh 22nd December:- Chandigarh is now part of the prestigious national level scheme for Skill Development for Electronic System Design & Manufacturing(ESDM) under digital India initiative to facilitate Electronic manufacturing Industry through appropriate skilled manpower and create employability to youth through value addition programmes. Department of Information Technology, Chandigarh Administration signed an memorandum of understanding with NIELT-PM today at the workshop on Bridging Skill Gap in Electronics System Design & Manufacturing (ESDM) sector through Capacity Building which held at Hotel Shivalik View, Sector 17. The MoU was signed by Prince Dhawan, Director Information Technology , on behalf of Department of IT and Dr. Samsher, Director, NIELIT Delhi on behalf of NIELT in presence of Vijay Dev, Adviser to Administrator, UT , Deepak Kumar, IAS, Secretary Information Technology, Chandigarh Administration & Dr. Ashwini Kumar Sharma, Director General, NIELIT, New Delhi.
Vijay Dev, Adviser to Administrator who was the chief guest of the event said that the scheme has been thoughtfully conceived by the Government of India which will play a crucial role in developing skills of the youth bulge of our nation and make them employable. This initiative will enhance the skilled human resource availability and will also encouraging new investments in training in ESDM sector by Industry and will facilitate all kinds of Non-formal skill oriented courses that could go on evolving as per industry requirement. He emphasized that the state governments to create ambience where academia, private sector and government sector come together and do capacity building.
Deepak Kumar, Secretary Information Technology in his address said that this is an effort to facilitate creation of an ecosystem for development ESDM sector and various stakeholders including the Government and industry, together, can ensure that the ESDM sector grows in tricity and this region continues to benefit, grow and prosper from this sector that is marked by lot of potential.
Prince Dhawan, Director Information Technology said that strategic Roadmap for Development of ESDM industry needs to be framed with the active participation of all three state governments in collaboration with Industry to create the conducive environment for the collective growth of this region.
This scheme aims at enhancing the skilling capacities in ESDM sector through public and private sector for students/unemployed youth belonging to other disciplines by Utilizing the existing human resource who are undergoing studies in schools (IX standard onwards)/ITIs/Polytechnics/UG Colleges (non-engineering) and the school drop outs/unemployed youth by providing them with additional skills that are recognized by industry for employment in ESDM sector.
