PGI Dean Bestowed with Rare Honour

Chandigarh 08th November:- Dr.Savita Malhotra, Dean, Prof & Head, Department of Psychiatry at PGI has been honored by the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) at its meeting in San  Antonio, Texas, USA.  In recognition of  her contributions to the development  of child and adolescent psychiatry  in India and the region she has been chosen a global leader in child & adolescent  psychiatry.  AACAP is the highest professional society for children & adolescent psychiatry  in US and chooses a global leader for the Presidential interview at its annual meeting every year.  This year Dr.Savita Malhotra was chosen for this distinction and was honoured. 

Dr.Savita Malhotra has an experience of over 35 years of working in the field of child & adolescent psychiatry at PGI, where she has contributed to the development of high quality service, teaching and research recognized nationally and internationally.  This has led the department to start DM course in the superspeciality of child and adolescent psychiatry recently. 

Dr.Savita Malhotra has been the President of the Asian Society for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and allied Professions : has been the founder and past President and currently Life President of Indian Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health.  Her work on Tele psychiatry for delivering mental Health Care in remote areas through general health professional or mental health para professions is a path breaking research that has the potential to revolutionize mental health care in the country.
