Chandigarh 07th November:- National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, CVDs and Strokes (NPCDCS),NHM,UT,Chandigarh organized an exhibition cum screening camp at GMCH-22, Chandigarh in collaboration with Radiotherapy department, PGI from 9:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. This day was used as an opportunity for creating awareness about Cancer, its signs and symptoms, timely detection and its management.
Dr. G. Dewan, Deputy Medical Suprintendent-GMSH-16 inaugurated the exhibition. Mobile Vans PGI & GMCH-32 with facility of Mammography and Colposcopy unit for screening Breast and Cervical cancer conducted around 50 (approx.) Mammography and 90 (approx.) Colposcopy. Various IEC materials in form of Posters, banners, pamphlets, leaflets were displayed and distributed to public at the Exhibition. Experts from PGIMER provided consultation regarding Cancer, significance of its early detection, treatment and further management and interacted actively with the citizens and answered their various queries regarding Cancer. The facilities for screening test for Cervical Cancer i.e. PAP smear will now be available free of cost at all health facilities including GMSH-16 Civil hospital Manimajra,CH-22 and Poly clinic-45.
Dr. Rakesh Kapur, HOD Radiotherapy PGIMER, Dr. Meena-SMO-22, Dr. Sangeeta Ajay-Nodal Officer-NHM, Dr. Manjeet Singh- Programme Officer-NPCDCS, Dr. Arun Bansal-SMO Manimajra, Dr. Rajeev Khaneja-Programme Officer-RNTCP and various officers/officials of health department, PGIMER, GMCH-32 were also present on the occasion.
