Chandigarh 27th October:- The week long NSS Camp at MCM DAV College for Women came to an end today woth a glittering valedictory ceremony. All the volunteers and numerous dignitaries from various walks of life were present. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Captain Subhash Chand, Regional Director (NSS), Ministry of Sports and Youth affairs, Govt of India.
Mrs. Punam Dawgotra, NSS Program Officer read a detailed report of various activities undertaken during the last 7 days of the camp. The report gave an insight into the welfare activities carried out by the volunteers in adopted village Badheri. Later enthralling cultural performances like Giddha, Lavni, Haryanvi, Gujrati, Rajasthani dances wowed the audience. The guests praised the zeal showcased by the MCM NSS Volunteers. The Chief Guest impressed upon the girls the significance of contribtuing to social good and the resulatant amplitude of change our efforts can bring about.
The highlight of the day was a special honour conferred upon an illustrious alumna and an ex NSS Volenteeyar MCM, Puneet Virk, who had recently bagged the State Award for her outstanding contribution to NSS during her undergraduate studies at MCM. With the cash prize of Rs. 5000 won, she distributed saniatry napkins to needy women of Badheri village.
The Principal of MCM congratulated the Program officer Dr. Sarita Chauhan and Mrs. Punam Dawgotra on successful completion of the seven day camp and congratulated all the volunteers.
