Chandigarh 08th October:- Chandigarh Administration is celebrating the year of the 50th death anniversary of legendary architect, and planner of Chandigarh, Le Corbusier, on an unprecedented scale with a series of lectures, seminars and other events, showcasing the contribution of Le Corbusier to the City. The culminating event of these activities is an International Symposium "Celebrating Le Corbusier's Chandigarh" from October 9th to October 12th, 2015.
The objective of the symposium is to reflect on Le Corbusier's contribution to Modernism, as an overview-his myriad talents as an artist, architect, theorist and writer; and the synthesis of all these as manifested through his projects globally. This will weave together the varied strands of the multi-faceted genius's creativity: his inventive, bold and imaginative architectural and urban planning responses to the diverse cultural, geographical milieus he worked in and the adaptations made there, to meet the challenges posed.
A photo exhibition "Capitol Complex 2015 at Open Hand Plaza with selected images on the making of Chandigarh and the Capitol as it stands today shall be open public from 4.00 PM onwards. Another attraction shall be Full Scale mock up model of the facade Governor's Palace- at the site originally allocated for this sculptural building which have completed Corbusier's unfinished symphony.
