CII Works Hand in Hand With State Govt to Attract Investments in State

Chandigarh 27th October:- The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) which is an Institutional Partner of the 2nd Progressive Punjab Investors' Summit has been working aggressively with the state Govt to portray state as an attractive investment destination and help it attract investments. In a build up to the event, CII had facilitated two roadshows, one each at Trivandrum and Pune and also organised Deputy CM's interaction with key members of CII southern and western Regional Council and one to one meetings with the select industry CEOs, inviting them to the summit, a lot of whom are attending the summit.

In addition to them, CII's top national and regional office-bearers are participating in a big way at the summit to ensure its success. Some of them areCII Vice President & Executive Vice Chairperson of Apollo Group Ms Shobana Kamineni; Rahul Bajaj, Past President, CII and Chairman, Bajaj Auto; Malvinder M Singh, Past Chairman, CII NR and Executive Chairman, Fortis Healthcare Ltd; Sunil Kant Munjal, Past President CII and Joint Managing Director Hero MotorCorp Ltd;  Y C Deveshwar, Past President, CII & Chairman, ITC Ltd, Rakesh Bharti Mittal, Past Chairman, CII NR & Vice-Chairman & MD, Bharti Enterprises; Sachit Jain, Co-Chairman, CII National  Council on Textiles and ED, Vardhman Special Steels Limited;  Dinesh Dua, Vice Chair, CII Chandigarh Council and CEO, Nectar Lifesciences;  S S Bhogal, Chairman, CII Punjab State Council and MD, Bhogal Exports etc.

CII Release said that besides supporting the event, CII has been actively partnering with the state Govt to enhance its ranking in ease of doing business, especially for the existing industry by giving key insights and sharing the best practices of other states. CII's recommendations on various policy matters have been accepted by the state Govt from time to time. In this context, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is facilitating an MoU to be signed between its partner Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (LKY), Asia Competitiveness Institute (ACI), National University of Singapore (NUS) and Punjab Government on 5th November 2015 to work together aggressively in this regard. It further added that during the last CII Invest North, where Punjab Govt participated, CII had facilitated a meeting with Kansai Nerolac Paints Ltd which is now investingRs 100 crore in the state for setting up a paint manufacturing plant, generating huge employment.

 S S Bhogal,Chairman, CII Punjab State Council and MD, Bhogal Exports informed that recently CII has also suggested Government of Punjab to set up a comprehensive wing on Industrial safety which would have specialised experts on various aspects of industrial safety and will guide & help the local Industry comply with safety norms and standards.
