Water Purifiers Given to 125 Anganwadi Centres

Chandigarh 23rd September:- Bharat Prakarsh Foundation, an NGO working in the fields of education and health gave Tata Swatch water purifiers for 125 Anganwadis today. These were handed over to Ms. Nishu Singal, Director Social Welfare, Chandigarh at a program held in Ram Darbar Composite Anganwadi building. The DSW commended the efforts of the NGO and said that this would ensure clean potable water for over 4000 children. 

The NGO awards scholarships every year to meritorious and needy children studying in Govt schools and has been working in partnership with the Education & Social Welfare departments of Chandigarh for the last 7 years. 

Mrs Neena Singh, Trustee of Bharat Prakarsh Foundation advised that the "Clean & Safe Drinking Water Project" envisages provision of water purifiers to 245 Anganwadis in the slum areas of Chandigarh where a 18 month project on reducing Malnutrition had been facilitated by them. 125 Anganwadis have been covered today and 120 Anganwadis will be given purifiers in Jan 2016 with the support of its Patrons and Donors.
