Chandigarh 27th Sept:- Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Hotel Management, took an initiative following the footsteps of our Prime Minister's vision towards "Swachh Bharat" by organizing a "Cleanliness Drive" under the banner of "Swachh Bharat Swachh Paryatan". On the occasion of World Tourism Day, Principal Mrs. Bharti Tyagi along with the enthusiastic bunch of faculty members, staff and students participated in cleaning the premises of the New Lake, Sector 42 D, Chandigarh.
As a part of World Tourism Week, an awareness drive is being undertaken through posters, social networking sites and word of mouth in the Institute. A number of competitions are organized in the college during this week to promote awareness among the students regarding cleanliness and its significance. Yesterday, a thorough inspection of area surrounding New Lake was done.
Mrs. Bharti Tyagi said that today, the Cleanliness Drive was initiated to sensitizing the students about the importance and value of cleanliness in their lives. She added that each and every individual should play the role towards cleaning the areas around them and only then we can achieve the vision and mission of Swachh Bharat.
Nearly 8 teams of faculty, staff members and students were formed to clean different areas of the lake. All the staff and faculty members were excited for the task and they personally cleaned every nook and corner. Special attention went into ensuring cleanliness of areas like stairs, foot paths around the lake and parking area. Rag picking was done in parks around the area. A sense of pride and belongingness were seen amongst the team members as they carried brooms, mops and dusters and actively participated with zeal and enthusiasm for a cause.
