Chandigarh 15th March:- Haryana Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Anil Vij today said that the government would soon pay the cash awards amounting to Rs 70 crore to the medal winners of Asian Games as these were left unpaid by the previous Congress government. The Minister said that the date for award giving function would be finalized in consultation with the Chief Minister Manohar Lal. He said that the previous government had only announced cash awards, but did not provide budget for the same.
He said that in the award giving function, those who would be honoured included junior hockey players, those of Asian Games and all sportspersons who had participated in National Games in Kerala. He said that a website is being developed to maintain record of the sportspersons and on it they would also be able to apply for job as per their qualifications.
