Chandigarh 05th February:- A workshop on 'Vedic Mathematics' was organized jointly by Department of Sanskrit and Department of Mathematics, MCM DAV College for Women, Chandigarh. The unique interdisciplinary workshop aimed at familiarizing the students with Vedic Mathematics and explaining to them its applications in the modern era.
Experienced Engineers from Ganit Catalysts, an initiative to promote Mathematical knowledge amongst students, Jasjeet Singh, Ms. Gurpinder, Ms. Poonam conducted the session. The activity began with an introduction of Vedic Methametics, the 16 sutras and 13 sub- sutras. The lecture was then followed by a hands on exercise on the practical application of sutras in mathematics. This unique system of mathematical learning empowered the students with the knowledge of traditional maths as outlined in our Vedas.
The students enthusiastically partook in the invigorating exercise. The guests were all praises for their performance. Applauding the endeavour, Dr. Puneet Bedi, Principal of MCM remarked that workshops such as these foster amongst the students a better understanding of our traditional sciences therefore enhancing their belief in traditional value systems and strengthening our bonds with our roots.
