PGI takes a pledge for cleanliness:Observe Gandhi Jayanti as ‘Swachhta Shapath’ Day

Chandigarh 02nd October:- PGIMER observed 2nd October as 'Swachhta Shapath' day with Professor YK Chawla, Director PGI leading the Institute in taking a pledge for ourselves and motivate others to keep the surroundings clean. A huge gathering of PGI Heads of Departments, faculty administrative officers, nursing staff, technical staff, paramedical staff and ministerial staff with contractual staff joining in took the oath along with Professor Chawla. 

Earlier while addressing the gathering Prof. Chawla said that nine nodal officers would lead the cleaning drive which started on Saturday, 28thSeptember, 2014.  These would be the Medical Superintendent, Deputy Director, SHE, Professor Incharge NIPS, Principal NINE, President of ARD, President of PGI Employees Union and Officer Incharge of NGOs working in PGI. A month long  ''Swachh Bharat Mission'' campaign had started in PGIMER on 28th September, 2014 with Prof. Chawla picking up the first broom and cleaning the lawns of Kairon Block, PGI. The drive had begun to spread awareness regarding keeping the hospital and the Institute campus clean. Circulars have been issued to all the departments highlighting the importance of cleanliness, hand washing and disposal of wastage in proper manner. The Nursing staff are being given special training in hand washing. The sanitation department has identified the areas of main focus while sustaining the cleanliness of various areas of the Institute.
