Chandigarh 24th August:- In an endeavor to provide the students with a comprehensive learning experience, the Department of Chemistry, MCM DAV College for Women, Chandigarh organized a two day Science Academies Lecture Workshop on 'Spectroscopy- Application in Chemistry' on 22-23rd August 2014. The workshop, organized in association with Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore; Indian National Science Academy, New Delhi and the National Academy of Sciences, Allahabad, intends to provide the undergraduate and postgraduate students with a platform to understand several aspects of spectroscopy and their application in chemistry.
Speakers from renowned institutes delivered educative and insightful addresses on spectroscopy. Some of the dignitaries were Prof. N. sathyamurthy, Director, IISER, Mohali; Prof. E. Arunan, IISC, Banaglore; Prof. K.S. Vishwanathan, IISER, Mohali; Prof. N.D. KURUR, IIT, delhi and Dr. K.P. Singh, IISER, Mohali who shed light on Microwave, Infrared, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, Femtosecond and Attosecond Spectroscopy.The students participated in the workshop and interactive session with the experts with utmost enthusiasm and zeal. Queries and discussions on the topic made the workshop a participative and an exceptional learning experience for all the attendees.
Applauding the endeavor, Dr. Puneet Bedi, the Principal of MCM remarked, that in the contemporary world it is imperative for the institutions to revamp and innovate novel training methodologies to make education empirical and whole. I am glad our attempt at the same has been successfully actuated.
