​General Public Need To Be Aware About The Free Treatment at Drug De-Addiction Centres: Sidhu

Chandigarh 10th July:- The general public in the district SAS Nagar need to be aware about the free treatment being provided in the drug de-addiction centres so that the victims could avail the benefit of free diagnosis & save themselves from the drug trap. This was stated by Deputy Commissioner Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu while he was presiding over a meeting of Health department officers & other higher officials at District Administrative Complex.

Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu directed that awareness among general public at grass route level need to be generated for complete eradication of drugs and help from Panchayat, Social service groups & Youth Clubs could be sought for the same. He directed the officers of health department to conduct weekly meetings to be presided over by Senior Medical Officer's at Govt. Health Service centres in the district. He said that in these meetings ANM's, Asha Workers should also be included so that the drug de-addiction campaign could be run smoothly & effectively. Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu said that proper medication stock should be ensured in these centres & presence of specialist psychotherapist, doctors & councillors should be ensured. Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu said that primary activities for establishing rehabilitation centre at SAS Nagar have been initiated. This rehabilitation centre will provide free treatment to the victims & will have proper arrangements for rehabilitation of the victims. He said that this rehabilitation centre will be very beneficial as it will help the victims to live a normal life after treatment.

During this SSP SAS Nagar Inder Mohan Singh Bhatti said that instead of any harassment, Police will cooperate with the drug victims so that they could live their normal lives.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp; </SPAN>Inder Mohan Singh Bhatti said that drug peddlers will not be exempted at any cost and Police will take strict action against them. He said that anybody could inform about the drug peddlers at help line number 8146012345. District Health Officer H. S. Oberoi said that at present there are 9 drug de-addiction centres in the district. Besides this, treatment centre at Civil Hospital SAS Nagar is also operational and 3 new drug de-addiction centres are being established very soon. He said that at present 225 victims are admitted to these drug de-addiction centres and treatment to approximate 3500 victims has been provided so far.
