Chandigarh 23rd June:- When one thinks of Egyptian women's wear, the mind conjures up names of two, larger than life personalities who influenced World History. One is Nefertiti and the other Cleopatra. The dresses worn by Cleopatra, played by actress Elizabeth Taylor in the 1963 Hollywood Blockbuster—'Cleopatra', too come to mind. Now trendy and style conscious divas of the region have an option to choose from a creative Egyptian theme collection, which Couturier Ms. Rupam Grewal, who owns the haute couture brand Jaamawar Minx(JM), has launched. The stunning summer designer wear was unveiled at the Jaamawar Minx studio in Elante Mall.

Ms. Rupam Grewal, said that we have tried to replicate the elegant Egyptian cuts & styles, in a Western and Indianised way. While the look of the designer apparel is Egyptian, we have made it more contemporary & glamourous. The USP certainly is the way we have used colours. Apart from Lapis the colours are inspired a lot by jasper.. A mix of attractive colours like coral, gold, emerald green et al lends an ethereal touch to attires. In the Western apparel of the Egyptian Line, there are Black & Gold Gowns & Dresses. Also available are Emerald Green cocktail party wear dresses. The Indianised cuts available in the Egyptian Line are Coral coloured straight high slit shirts with pants & dupattas which are appropriate to wear in any Indian wedding function like sangeet, reception etc. Straight column, Egyptian like shirts, with sequence neck-work, blouses with Egyptian Tube work are also on offer. Salwar suits in apple green and coral are also part of the ensemble.

Ms. Pallak Kakkar, Asst Designer, JM, who is also an alumnus of the prestigious NIFT, said that the Egyptian tinge has been intelligently introduced in Western as well as Indian wear. The bead & sequence work along the neck of the dresses is what makes the range very different from anything else in its category.
