CII Takes 60 Member Study Mission To ITIs Nalagarh & Solan & TVS Company, Nalagarh

Chandigarh 12^th June:- Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Northern Region organised a Study Mission of 60 members from Punjab and Chandigarh region to Industrial Training Institute (ITIs) in Solan and Nalagarh and TVS Motor Company Plant (Training Facilities) at Nalagarh, Distt Solan (H.P) today.

Rajender Guleria, Co-Chairman, CII-NR, said that CII organized this Mission to promote learning through sharing of best practices and to share the good practices of role model ITIs of the State with around 60 ITI Principals, faculty members  and IMC Chairmen of various states like Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana etc.

R K Verma, Secretary, Technical Education, Government of Punjab, said that PPP mode of development, Infrastructural support and Industry-Academia collaboration are needed to revitalize and rejuvenate the state of ITIs in the Northern Region, especially in Himachal Pradesh. Also, there exists a great need of trained faculty and equipment support to improve the standards of these.

K Sanjay Murthy, Principal Secretary (Education & Technical Education), Govt. of Himachal Pradesh while addressing the members of CII-ITI Study Mission at ITI Solan shared information about STAR Scheme at the visit at ITI solan that the Standard Training & Assessment Reward or STAR Scheme provides monetary reward to candidates on successful completion of programme and certification thereafter. The monetary reward is wholly funded by the Ministry of Finance, Government of India. Training programmes under the scheme are intended to develop and certify skills against industry standards. The assessment and certification processes involved are based on rigorous norms as per National Occupational Standards.

Ms Daljeet Kaur, Asst Director, Technical Education & Industrial Training, Govt of Punjab opined that the ITIs need to work on Income Revenue Generation model. The Private companies should take help of ITIs to train their workers. This will be a win-win deal for both as ITIs can generate revenue through such training programs and the big private players will get skilled man power.
