Mohali 22nd May:-- Gian Jyoti Institute of Management and Technology Mohali observed the Anti-Terrorism Day at its campus. The Day was observed to commemorate the sacrifice of the late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and generate awareness in the country among all the sections of the people, about the danger of terrorism, violence and its dangerous effect on the people, the society and the country as a whole.
The objective behind the observance of Anti-Terrorism Day is to wean away the youth from the terrorist/violence cult by highlighting the suffering of the common people and showing how it is prejudicial to the national interest.
On the occasion, J S Bedi, Chairman, Gian Jyoti Group of Institutions administered the Pledge. That we, the people of India, having abiding faith in our country's tradition of nonviolence and tolerance, hereby solemnly affirm to oppose with our strength, all forms of terrorism and violence. We pledge to uphold and promote peace, social harmony, and understanding among all fellow human beings and fight the forces of disruption threatening human lives and values.
Addressing the students and faculty members and media persons, he laid emphasis on the importance of upholding the spirit of tolerance and love for fellow human beings. He exhorted them to conduct themselves ethically in their professional lives and observe highest standards of moral values - something that is very close to his heart and makes a constant endeavour to practice it in his own life. Citing from the Holy Scriptures, he reminded all present that India has a unique feature of always exhibiting unity in diversity. The programme concluded with singing of the national anthem.
