Lecture on "Leadership Competence Development", Organise At SGGS College

Chandigarh 12th February:---- The P.G. Deptt. of Commerce, Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Sector-26, Chandigarh organized an interactive lecture on “Leadership Competence Development”, delivered by Dr. Padamkuamr Nair, Director, L M Thapar School of Management, Dera bassi, near Chandigarh. S.Gurdev singh Brar and Col.(Retd) J.S.Bala,President and Secretary S.E.S. were guest of honor for the occasion. Prof.Tejinder Brar,HOD Commerce, formally welcomed the guests. The lecture was overwhelmingly attended by the students and staff of the college. Dr. P K Nair stressed on the importance of unlocking the leader within each one of us. He also took examples of personalities like, Gandhi, Shakespeare, Steve Jobs etc., who defined success in their own way and were effective leaders. According to him leadership skills are not only in born but can also be taught and learnt. Further, he discussed that the leader’s behaviour is influenced by the people, situation and the leader-follower relationship. He also discussed leadership in the Indian context. According to him a lot of development has taken place in India during the last twenty years but still factors, likewise, culture and lack of leadership are holding us back. To conclude, he said that India has a unique role to play in the changing world. At the end Principal Sh.M.S. Marwaha along with words of appreciation for the speaker also congratulated the faculty for successful organization of the lecture. Prof,Manveen kaur Gill conducted the stage and vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Pooja Bhagwan.
