Chief Electoral Officer Held Meeting With Officers For Lok Sabha General Election-2014

Chandigarh 22nd February:--Chief Electoral Officer-cum-Home Secretary, Chandigarh Administration, Anil Kumar today called a meeting at UT State Guest House, to discuss about General Elections to Lok Sabha for Chandigarh Parliamentary Constituency 2014. During the meeting the Managers of various Banks, General Post Offices, Principals of various colleges in Chandigarh and Deputy Commissioner alongwith with all the Assistant Electoral Officers were present.

While briefing, the Chief Electoral Officer informed the officers that the present EPR of Chandigarh is 53 per cent and to increase it, maximum enrollment of the electors who have attained the age of 18 years as on 1.1.2014 have been emphasized.  For awareness and enrolling the new eligible voters, the Election Department of Chandigarh has set up a counter for in the Chandigarh Rose Festival. He further desired that that all the Banks and post offices in Chandigarh will display banners in their branches as well as ATMs as prescribed by the Election Commission of India showing the information of the Booth Level Officer of that area.  It has further desired that a box for collection of enrollment forms be put up in their branches and the concerned BLO will collect the forms from their respective banks/post offices.  All the bank branches and GPO will intimate the total number of visitor obtain the information and total number of forms etc. received by the bank on monthly basis.    The Principals of various college of Chandigarh were requested to appoint Campus Ambassador for motivating, increasing and enrolling the students of colleges who are eligible. It has been also desired to identify the students who attained the age of 18 years and are not enrolled as electors to fill Form No. 6.  For this purpose help of NSS, NCC may be taken.
