Chandigarh 08th January: ---- Inspector General of Police, U.T. Chandigarh R.P. Upadhyaya, today rewarded one civilian and 2 lady constables for shown exemplary courage, bravery and contributed in the apprehension of a criminal. Dr. Sukhchain Singh Gill, IPS, SSP/UT and Sh. Maneesh Chaudhary, IPS, SSP/Traffic & Security, UT, Chandigarh were also present on this occasion.
IGP R.P. Upadhyaya, rewarded Gagandeep Singh for showing exemplary courage by apprehending a snatcher on 25.03.2013, near Hotel Sunbeam, Sector-22, Chandigarh in Case FIR No. 159, dated 25.03.2013, U/s 379, 356, 511 IPC, PS-17, Chandigarh, an amount of Rs. 3.50 lacs was recovered from the accused. Gagandeep Singh has shown exemplary courage, bravery and contributed in the apprehension of a dangerous criminal. Chandigarh Police recognize his effort and as a token of appreciation present him a reward of Rs. 10, 000/- and commendation Certificate Class-1 for his future encouragement. Besides this, R.P. Upadhyaya, IPS, Inspector General of Police, U.T. Chandigarh also rewarded two lady constable with Commendation Certificate Class-I along with cash Reward of Rs. 5000/- each, to L/Const. Sonia Dhankar No. 4256/CP and L/Const. Poonam Kumari No. 4378/CP of Chandigarh Traffic Police for recognition of their work in connection with apprehending two accused namely Inderpreet Singh and Navdeep Singh on 01.01.2014, who tried to sped away after hit their Scooty No. CH-01-AT-2058 near Gurudwara Sahib, Manimajra, Chandigarh and also beaten them on 1.1.2014. A Case FIR No. 02 U/S 279, 337, 323, 307, 34 IPC has been registered in PS-Manimajra, Chandigarh in this regard. Due to swift and brave action of both of the police officials, the accused persons were arrested from the spot.
