Workshop on Musculoskeletal Ultrasound and MRI to be Held on 5th to 7th September in PGI

According to the spokesperson of the PGI this academic workshop is likely to be attended by about 250 delegates including postgraduate students from various medical colleges and practising radiologists from all over India and other SAARC countries. The invited faculty includes eminent radiologists from the country and abroad who are actively practising and teaching musculoskeletal radiology.  The highlights of the meeting include lectures on anatomy and basic planning of radiological imaging in musculoskeletal disorders and daily hands-on workshops in ultrasound and MRI

Musculoskeletal radiology is a novel subspeciality in the field of radiology for the diagnosis of musculoskeletal disorders using medical imaging like conventional X-rays, ultrasound, computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). This subspeciality is relatively nascent in our country and the need to provide high quality and efficient imaging facilities to this specific subset of patients needs to be stressed. About 600 cases of dedicated and focused musculoskeletal ultrasound, CT and MRI are performed each month in the department of Radio diagnosis. The department is also planning to start a one year fellowship in musculoskeletal radiology in the near future. This fellowship will be the first of its kind in India.
