Chandigarh,08th September:-- Professor Ramesh Kumar Sen, Orthopaedic Surgeon, PGI, Chandigarh has been invited as a Visiting professor by University of Mainz, Germany in September. where he is scheduled to demonstrate his surgical innovations and techniques in the management of complex hip problems. He will participate in the clinical and academic schedule of the University hospital of Mainz. Subsequently he will be visiting Riga, the capital of Latvia to participate in Baltic countries Orthopaedic surgeons meet, as a plenary speaker. There he will share his experience of managing difficult surgeries in Orthopaedic trauma. Earlier this year in March, Prof. Sen was also a visiting Professor to Detroit Medical Center, USA, where he presented one of the world's largest series of specific hip surgeries performed by him in PGI with a follow up evaluation of more than 10 years.
Besides performing routine knee and hip joint replacement surgeries, Prof Ramesh Sen specializes in hip and knee revision surgeries and pelvi-acetabular trauma management. Avascular necrosis is a crippling disease mostly seen in people on prolonged analgesics, steroid therapy and in young alcoholics and its prevalence is increasing in North India. Dr Sen has done extensive work on stem cell therapy in the avascular necrosis of hip joints which has already been internationally recognized. He has many innovations and Patent to his credit. He has been a Course Director in more than 40 surgical skill training workshops within country as well as abroad. Surgical approaches and techniques developed by him are reportedly being practiced by orthopedic surgeons in many countries. With more than 150 publications in scientific journals to his credit, Prof Sen has delivered more than 300 guest lectures in national and international conferences. He has also been invited as an examiner for postgraduate education in various countries
