Teej Mela Concludes With Great Zeal:

Chandigarh 12th August:-- The two days colourful Teej festival was concluded with great zeal in the Shivalik Garden, Manimajra, on sunday. Former Union Minister & Member Parliament, Chandigarh Pawan Kumar Bansal, was the chief guest of the function. The function was marked with Punjabi, Haryanvi, Rajasthani, Himachali & Uttaranchali folk dances, songs, fusion of Giddha & Bhangra and Teeian de Geet by famous artists of various states. Thousands of audience present in the Mela could not stop themselves to dance on the foot-tapping beats of "Dhol" and popular Haryanvi, Himachali and Uttaranchali numbers. Other attractions of the Mela was including camel rides, cart rides, "Pind Di Nuhar", puppet show, Magic show by famous magician Pardeep, different stalls of sweets and lassi, Maal-Pua, handi crafts, designer fabrics and other domestic items etc. The stage was decorated with colourful lights and traditional "Jhandian" flags. East meets West as the streets fill with musical sounds, with everything from traditional folk, beats of Dhol and Teej diya Bolliyan to fusion of Giddha and Bhangra. During the cultural evening famous folk singers Bittu Bajwa and Nishu Raja, Jassi & Happy etc. presents famous pop and folk punjabi numbers. During the culture evening Star cast of upcoming Punjabi film 'Put Zattan De' has also performed.

Mrs. Madhu Bansal, wife of Pawan Kumar Bansal, Mrs. Upinder Ahluwalia, Mayor of Panchkula, Mrs. Palvi Singh, Wife of V.K. Singh, Finance Secretary, UT, Chandigarh, Mrs. Aruna Chawla wife of Subhash Chawla, Mayor chandigarh was the guest of honour. Pawan Kumar Bansal honoured the all the guest of honours and councillors of Municipal Corporation by with giving traditional fulkari including Satish Kainth, Deputy Mayor, Mrs. Gurbax Rawat, Chairperson, Arts, Culture & Sports committee, Lalit Siwach, Additional Commissioner, Gurcharan Dass Kalaa, area councillor, other councillors of MC.

Pawan Kumar Bansal Bansal said in his speech that there is necessity to perpetuate cultural values among the Citizens. He said that Municipal Corporation has developed a beautiful park in this area and by organising such events in parks the Municipal Corporation is adding more beauty to the Parks and area. He said that people of Chandigarh should know about their rich culture and Municipal Corporation is doing this well by organising cultural festivals.
