Hallo Majra's Govt.High School Gets New Block

Chandigarh 02nd July:--New block of Govt. High School, Hallo Majra was inaugurated by K.K. Sharma, IAS, Adviser to Administrator UT,Chandigarh here today. Earlier, the school building of Govt. High School Hallo Majra had 9 rooms and 1 prefabricated shed consisting of 7 classrooms.  Out of existing 9 rooms 3 rooms are being used as classrooms, 6 rooms are being used as Computer Lab, Staff room, Science Lab, MDM room, Library and Principal room.  This building was not sufficient to accommodate more than 2800 students enrolled in the School, therefore, the students of class V onward were shifted to govt. High School Karsan and Govt. Senior Secondary school Karsan.  This was a temporary arrangement to undertake the construction work of additional block consisting of 18 rooms. 

After inauguration of a new block consisting of 18 rooms, 28 classrooms will be available including 7 rooms in prefabricated sheds.  The school needs additional rooms to accommodate the student's strength of more than 2800 but there is no space for further constructions. The school will be having double shift to accommodate 1500 students of class VI to X in morning shift and 1300 students in evening shift.

Apart from these students, enrolled in Govt. High School Hallomajra, many children of village Hallomajra are going to schools in the nearby villages and sectors of Chandigarh i.e. Govt. Sr. Sec. School- Behlana, Govt. Sr. Sec. School- Raipur Khurd, Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School – Karsan, Govt. High School- Karsan, Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School- Sector-32.  Moreover, there is no place for playgrounds in the existing site of Govt. High School Hallo Majra.   Therefore, there is still a requirement of one more school. 

Approximately 2.5 Crore of Rupees have been spent on this noble task. The welcome address was extended by Sh. V.K. Singh Finance- cum- Education Secretary Chandigarh Administration and Sh. Chanchal Singh, Deputy Director School Education presented the vote of Thanks. Chief Engineer Sh. S.K Chadda, and Chief Architect Smt. Sumit Kaur and other dignitaries of Chandigarh Administration were also present on this occasion.
