Central Government approve Rs. 98.50 crore for Crop Diversification

Chandigarh, 05th July:--To encourage the farmers of Haryana to adopt crop diversification, the Central Government has approved Rs. 98.50 crore under the scheme known as Crop Diversification in Original Green Revolution States during the current financial year.

        While stating this here today, an official spokesman of Agriculture Department said that out of it, a sum of Rs. 66.52 crore would be spent on popularizing the cultivation of guar, maize, Basmati (short duration hybrid DSR), plantation of popular and intercropping in agro-forestry. A sum of Rs. 10 crore would be spent on farm mechanization and value addition component.

He said that Rs. 20 crore would be spent on site specific activities to popularise  drip irrigation, rotavator, laser land leveler, seed drill, zero till drill and seed drill-cum-planter.

He said that, various awareness activities would also be organized under the scheme which included State level kisan melas,   training programmes at the level of district, block  and village  and exposure visits. A sum of about  Rs.2 crore would be spent on these awareness activities
