Special Girdawari orders to ascertain the damage caused to the crops due to recent rain in Haryana

Chandigarh, June 18-Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said that special girdawari has been ordered to ascertain the damage caused to the crops due to recent rain in districts of Yamunanagar, Karnal and Panipat and a complete survey would also be conducted.

            Mr. Hooda, who made an aerial survey of the area, was addressing a press conference at Radaur near  Yamunanagar. Earlier he also   observed the situation of water discharge   at Hathni Kund Barrage.  

            In reply to a question, the Chief Minister said that although  flood like situation had occurred yet no loss of property and life was reported. He said that as per the report, a maximum of 8,06,020 cusecs of water was discharged at Hathni Kund Barrage on June 17, but today the same has   reduced to 1.14 lakh cusecs. Now the water level is reducing day by day, he added.

            While appreciating the alertness of district administration, Army, Air Force and National Disaster Management Authority and the help rendered by them, Mr. Hooda said that situation is being controlled with their cooperation. He said that such pre-monsoon rain has never been witnessed in the state. Perhaps the rain has broken 100 years old record. As many as 37 villages of district Yamunanagar, 40 of Karnal and 20 villages of district Panipat have been affected owing to this rain.

            In reply to yet another question, Mr. Hooda said that Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Mr. Krishan Mohan was regularly in touch with him and providing minute-to-minute report about the water situation.

            He assured that all possible help would be extended so that farmers do not bear any loss. Adequate arrangements are being made for drainage of water logged villages. Such situation has never happened. Government is quite alert and all round arrangements are being made to handle the situation.

            Those present on this occasion included Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Mr. Chhatar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Mr. Krishana Mohan, former MLA Mr. Arjun Singh and Mr. Subhash Choudhary, Congress leader Mr. Satpal Kaushik, Mr. Satish Tejli, Mr. Suresh Dhanda, Haji Amir Hussain, senior officers of district administration and other prominent persons.
