CRAWFED Holds Executive Committee Meeting

Chandigarh Nov. 01, 2020:-The Executive Committee Meeting of Chandigarh Residents' Associations Welfare Federation (Regd.) [CRAWFED] was held on 1 November 2020, Sunday, at Gandhi Bhawan Sector 16, Chandigarh, at 10:30AM under the Chairmanship of Hitesh Puri. The meeting was attended by representatives from various RWA's across Chandigarh. The agenda of the meeting was discussion on recently hiked water tariff by MC of Chandigarh; long pending issue of regularisation of need based change made in Chandigarh Housing Board dwelling units; shifting of Dadu Majra garbage dumping ground; issue of privatization of Electricity Department in Chandigarh. Rajat Malhotra General Secretary CRAWFED took up the issue of long pending demand of regularisation of need based changes made in Chandigarh Housing Board dwelling units by allowing one time General Amnesty. He urged Member of Parliament Smt. Kirron Kher and BJP President Chandigarh Unit Arun Sood for their intervention in resolving this age old issue by giving one time General Amnesty on pattern of "Amnesty Scheme for regularisation of unauthorised construction in plotted area" by Municipal Corporation Delhi in the year 1999.
Dr. Anish Garg Chief spokesperson CRAWFED  said where parks are being maintained by RWA's/contractors,  then any type of permission, regarding its use for any function or any other purpose, NOC should be taken from RWA/contractor before MC gives permission. He also raised concern regarding proper sterilization of dogs.
Maj. D P Singh Patron CRAWFED spoke regarding regularisation of street vendors. He also said vendors are selling vegetables and fruits much above the rates fixed by Market Committee Surinder Sharma Vice Chairman CRAWFED took issue of smart watch worn by Municipal Corporation staff. He said these watches are already in use in 3/4 cities in India and running successfully giving desired results, so municipal corporation staff of Chandigarh should also wear these watches without any fear or raising unnecessary issues. 
Hitesh Puri Chairman CRAWFED said that he has already appealed to the Administrator and MC commissioner that they should not hike water tariff many fold and people do not want 24 hours water supply on stake of such high rates. Mr. Puri also raised issue of shifting of garbage dumping ground from Dadu Majra. He said thousands of people are getting sick because of health issues. Hitesh Puri also took up issue of privatization of Electricity Department in Chandigarh. He said there is no need for making department privatized, as Chandigarh Electricity department is already running in profit and residents are already getting satisfactorily supply of electricity in Chandigarh.
