Chandigarh 14th July:- In support of long pending genuine demands as well as to gear up the employees for the proposed Dharna going to be held in the month of July and August, the Electricity Employees of Chandigarh under the banner of U.T. Powermen Union, Chandigarh today held gate meeting before the Electricity Office, Sector-40, Chandigarh.
Union General Secretary, Gopal Dutt Joshi, while addressing the rally strongly criticized and condemn the negative attitude of the authorities towards the genuine demands and said that despite repeated request and representation as well as agitation launch by the Union. The authorities are sitting light over the genuine demands and adopting negative and adamant attended towards the demands. And pointed out that about 600 posts of various categories are lying vacant since long even the 42 posts of Lower Division Clerk (LDC) for which approval has been granted by the JERC have not been filled up similarly the promotional posts of Line man. Junior Engineer, Accountant as well as recruitment of induction posts such as Assistant line man, Line Man, UDC, Bill distributor etc. has also given no consideration which is created great unrest amongst the employees on one side on the other public is most sufferer and continuity of supply is worst affected.
He further pointed out that the hundreds cases of anomalies, amendment in rules, offer of appointment to next kin of deceased by scrapping 5% on Punjab / PSPCC Pattern etc. have also not been implemented and blamed that instead of implementing the genuine demands the authorities are promoting privatization and corporatization of the department which is against the interest of general public.
