UT Boys Faced Six-Wicket Defeat against Chhattisgarh in Vinoo Mankad Trophy

Chandigarh, Oct.09, 2025:-Chandigarh Under-19 team went down fighting against Chhattisgarh by six wickets in their opening encounter of the Vinoo Mankad Trophy match held at Maharana Pratap College Ground, Dehradun on Thursday 

Opting to bat first, Chandigarh were bundled out for 149 in 41.3 overs. The innings witnessed Yuvraj Singh top-score with a quickfire 42 off 37 balls which was studded with five boundaries and two sixes. Gaganpreet Singh (25) and Akul Bhanot (15) made useful contributions, but the team struggled to build strong partnerships. From opposition, Vikalp Tiwari (3/26) and Rudra Pratap Dehari (3/26) shared three wickets each.  

In reply, Chhattisgarh chased down the target comfortably by reaching 150 for 4 in 32.1 overs. Skipper Vikalp Tiwari led from the front with an unbeaten 40 off 45 balls while Tejas Morey scored a composed 44 runs.

Meanwhile, in Raipur (Chhattisgarh), the opening match of the Senior Women's T20 Trophy between Chandigarh and Railways was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to rain.  

Back home, the UT Cricket Association hosted three Plate Group matches across different venues.

At the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium, Mizoram defeated Nagaland by eight wickets in a low-scoring encounter. Batting first, Nagaland was bundled out for a mere 37 runs with Mal Zela (6/21) starring with the ball for Mizoram. In reply, Mizoram comfortably chased down the target in the 13th over losing only two wickets.

At GMSSS-26, Manipur overcame Arunachal Pradesh by 61 runs. Batting first, Manipur posted 257/6 with skipper Max (45) leading from the front. In reply, Despite a valiant century by opener Mohd Yakib (105), Arunachal Pradesh was bowled out for 196.

In a thrilling contest at Tau Devi Lal Stadium, Panchkula, Sikkim edged past Meghalaya by three wickets. Meghalaya was restricted to 99, thanks to a fine bowling spell from Parvin (4/14). Sikkim chased down the modest target by losing seven wickets.
