Chandigarh, October 14, 2025:-Marking a heartwarming celebration, philanthropist and noted politician Sanjay Tandon along with his wife Priya Tandon observed their wedding anniversary in an inspiring way by empowering special children through sports. The Tandons under the aegis of Competent Foundation organized a unique sports kit distribution program titled "Haste Khelte" at the Government Rehabilitation Institute for Intellectual Disabilities (GRIID), Sector 31, Chandigarh on Tuesday.
The event which focused on promoting inclusion, physical activity and happiness among special children with intellectual disabilities was graced by H. Rajesh Prasad, Chief Secretary, UT Chandigarh as the Chief Guest in the presence of Prof GP Thami, Director and Dr Ajeet Sidana, Joint Director, GRIID and Umang Tandon, Program Convenor. In his address Prasad appreciated the initiative and lauded the Competent Foundation for its continued commitment to uplifting and empowering differently-abled children through the medium of sports.
Speaking on the occasion, Sanjay Tandon, President, Competent Foundation expressed that celebrating their anniversary amidst these special children brought them immense joy and fulfillment. He emphasized that sports not only enhance physical fitness but also build confidence, discipline and teamwork among children.
As part of the drive, the Foundation distributed an impressive range of sports equipment designed to encourage active participation among students. The list of items included Badminton Sets, Feather Shuttles, Badminton Nets, Basketballs, Bocce Balls for lower ability athletes, TT Bats, Football Kits, Cricket Kits, Judo Kits, 50 T-shirts with lowers, Weighing Scales, Skipping Ropes and sports equipments.
