As part of the project, a dedicated DROP Box has been installed on campus for students and staff to deposit their plastic waste. This waste will be regularly collected and sent for recycling, helping to minimize its negative impact on the environment. The initiative was formally inaugurated by J.S. Bedi, Chairman of Gian Jyoti Group of Institutions. During the event, Dr. Reena, representing the Indian Pollution Control Association, conducted a detailed awareness session. She educated students and staff on the principles of reducing, reusing, and recycling plastic. She emphasized how small, conscious actions like these can protect the planet from pollution.
Addressing the students and staff, Chairman J.S. Bedi stated that we are not just an educational institution; we are a socially responsible entity. Plastic pollution is a serious challenge, and tackling it requires everyone's participation. I am glad that our students and staff are becoming a part of this important project. Our aim is to create citizens who are environmentally responsible and aware.
Director Dr. Aneet Bedi also highlighted the project's significance, this project is a major step toward making our campus a cleaner and more sustainable place. It is crucial to teach students how to manage plastic waste properly from the very beginning. Through this project, we are providing practical knowledge on how small efforts can lead to a big change.
Following the session, the college's student team presented an impactful street play on the topic. The play artistically depicted the harmful effects of plastic and raised awareness among the audience about potential solutions.
