Patiala, May 12, 2025:-- Taking forward its mission to build safer roads and responsible riding behaviour, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) organized a road safety awareness programme in Patiala, Punjab. The initiative brought together more than 2400 students and staff members from Apollo Public School and Government Senior Secondary Smart School (Model Town) for a day of learning and engagement through interactive sessions and hands-on learning on road safety.
The campaign forms part of HMSI's broader effort to cultivate a safety-first mindset among the participants through education and experience. Focused on enabling behavioral change, the campaign introduced participants to the fundamentals of road safety in an immersive and engaging manner.
As per the report from Ministry of Road Transport & Highways for CY 2022*, Patiala reported a total of 6,138 road accidents, 4,756 fatalities and 3,324 injuries. This data not only reflects the dangers of negligence on the road but also showcase the importance of proactive awareness initiatives across regions.
This initiative in Patiala focused on spreading awareness on safe riding practices among young learners through interactive activities, featuring a range of sessions such as safety riding theory, helmet awareness activities, static demonstrations, games and quizzes. The participants also engaged in educational activities designed to help them understand the importance of road safety by simplifying key safety concepts. From understanding traffic signs to learning how small behavioral changes can create a bigger impact, the sessions were designed to raise awareness in a relatable format.
Across the country, these awareness programmes are designed to instill responsible behavior and improve decision-making among future riders. HMSI continues to organize similar campaigns across states, drawing participation from schools and colleges. These engagements are focused on empowering individuals with knowledge that can help prevent any risks on the road.
The impact of these campaigns is not just in terms of numbers, but also based on the ripple effect it creates by encouraging local communities to take individual responsibility towards road safety. HMSI's efforts are further strengthened by the support of the educational institutions in enabling wider reach and community outreach. By staying connected to the community and conducting similar campaigns in future, the company hopes to bring a lasting change to how road safety is practiced and understood by all.
HMSI also recently launched its innovative digital road safety learning platform, E-Gurukul, this E-Gurukul platform offers training modules tailored for three specific age groups from 5 years till 18 years ensuring a comprehensive approach towards road safety. Currently the modules are available in multiple languages like Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and English—to ensure inclusivity and regional relevance and E-Gurukul can be accessed at egurukul.honda.hmsi.in. The platform supports live streaming or downloading, and multilingual modules to ensure accessibility across diverse regions. The launch of E-Gurukul is part of HMSI's ongoing efforts to empower children, educators, and dealers to champion safe road practices. The initiative will expand to cover schools in every state, promoting road safety education tailored to different age groups.
