Sri Guru Harkrishan Model School Holds Annual Sports Meet of Primary Wing

Chandigarh, Nov. 12, 2024:-Around 500 students of Little Hearts, Pre-Primary & Primary Wing of Sri Guru Harkrishan Model School, Sector 38-D, Chandigarh, participated in Annual Sports Day that concluded today at Sports complex, Sector-7, Chandigarh. The guests were greeted with a welcome song & release of colourful balloons. 

While addressing the parents on the function, Principal Dr. Harpreet Kaur said that the vibrant occasion celebrates the spirit of sportsmanship, teamwork, and the joy of physical activity. She added that young athletes showcased their skills and determination, which reminded of the importance of a balanced approach to education, encompassing both academic excellence and physical fitness.

The event kicked off with an opening ceremony featuring a parade of athletes and the lighting of the torch. Over the course of the day, spectators were treated to thrilling performances by little sports talent, as well as opportunities to cheer for their favourite teams and athletes.

The Zumba Dance performance by little angels of class Nursery entertained the audience while the students of class LKG presented a colourful Dance number. The Cheetah Race for Nursery students proved the highlight of the day, offering a fun and fast-paced sprint that encouraged young participants to run with enthusiasm and energy. This race not only promoted physical activity but also fostered a spirit of friendly competition among the youngest athletes, making it a thrilling spectacle for both the children and their supporters.

In the LKG Events, a series of exciting and challenging activities were lined up, designed to test the agility and coordination of the little ones. The Track Event featured a range of races, including sprints and obstacle challenges, providing opportunities for students to showcase their speed, focus, and determination. 

One of the most entertaining events was the Ball Balancing Race, where participants ran while balancing a ball on their heads, testing their balance and concentration. Another fun-filled event was the Pick & Throw, which saw the students racing while picking up and throwing balls into designated containers, adding an element of precision and coordination to the competition. Finally, the Flat Race, a classic sprint, allowed the children to put their speed to the test in a fun, competitive environment, making it one of the most eagerly anticipated events of the day.

The programme concluded with the Vibrant Bhangra performance by the students of class UKG & Class V. The winners were awarded medals and prizes. Principal, Dr. Harpreet Kaur thanked the parents for their wholehearted participation in school events. The event concluded with the National Anthem. Encouraging the students for their performance and dedication, events inspire the students to embrace a healthy and active lifestyle, fostering a lifelong love for sports.
