Chandigarh, July 17, 2024:- In the series of Allengers Gully Cricket Tournament being organised by UT Cricket Association (UTCA) from July 26, the concerned departments are leaving no stone unturned to make the event a success. The District Education Officer corresponded with all the government schools of the city and called upon the schools to register for the tournament through Police Stations / Beat Boxes and make the event successful with wide participation. Citing the Drug Free India Campaign, the department has told the schools the tournament is targeted for children in the age group of 14 to 18 years. The objective of the tournament is to connect the youth with sports by keeping them away from drugs.
UT Administrator and Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Purohit will officially inaugurate the tournament at the Cricket Stadium in Sector 16 on July 26, while Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will attend the final match and closing ceremony on August 12. Apart from the School Department, the tournament is well supported by Chandigarh Police, Municipal Corporation, Sports Department and Social Welfare Department. The last date for registration is July 22.
