Chandigarh, Feb. 24, 2022:-Rajesh Bhushan, Secretary, (Health and Family Welfare), Government of India visited PGIMER Chandigarh today and reviewed the progress of the upcoming infrastructure projects at the Institute.
During his visit, the Secretary chaired a meeting which was attended by Prof. Surjit Singh, Director PGIMER, senior faculty members and senior administrative officers including Gaurav Dhawan (IRS), Deputy Director Administration, Kumar Abhay (IAAS), Financial Advisor, Prof. G D Puri, Dean (Academics), Prof. Vipin Koushal, Medical Superintendent-cum-Head, Department of Hospital Administration, PGIMER .
A detailed presentation was made before the dignitary. This included details about the institute's history, traditions and academic growth over the last 60 years. He was also apprised about the hospital structure, the advanced centres of patient care, training and research as well as upcoming new centres like the Advanced Neurosciences Centre and Advanced Mother and Child Care Centre. Rajesh Bhushan was also updated about the progress on the three PGI Satellite Centres at Sangrur and Ferozepur (Punjab) and Una (Himachal Pradesh).
While explaining the ever-increasing patient load at various areas in the hospital by the senior administrative team of PGIMER, it was emphasised that many referrals can be dealt with at the level of district hospitals and medical colleges in the region. However, many patients still prefer to come to PGI for their treatment. The Secretary gave a patient hearing to the difficulties being faced by the Institute and assured quick redressal of the administrative bottlenecks.
Rajesh Bhushan planted a sapling in front of Kairon Administrative Block, reiterating his passion for 'clean and green' and importance of environmental conservation. He was accompanied by the Director, PGIMER and senior administrative team of the institute during the tree plantation.
Following the plantation, the Secretary visited Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT) complex, Nehru Hospital; Nehru Extension Block; New OPD Block; Advanced Eye Centre; Advanced Cardiac Centre; Advanced Paediatric Centre and Advanced Trauma Centre. At these centres, the Secretary (Health) interacted with doctors, paramedics and patients and enquired about the facilities being provided to the patients there.
Rajesh Bhushan inaugurated an AMRIT Pharmacy outlet in New OPD Complex. He also launched an online SMS based reports retrieval facility for reports wherein patients visiting PGI can easily access their laboratory investigations.
The Secretary (Health) also visited the sites of two upcoming centres namely Advanced Neurosciences Centre and Advanced Mother & Child Care Centre. He also addressed the senior faculty members and administrative heads of the institute.
