Chandigarh Nov.10, 2021:- The Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) Cell of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh organised a Book Donation drive in Government Model High School (GMHS) of its adopted village Kajheri, Chandigarh (U.T.). The donation drive of NCERT textbooks (complete sets) was carried out to support the noble cause of establishing a Book Bank for classes 9th and 10th so as to facilitate access to quality education for the students belonging to underprivileged sections of the society. A total of 11 complete sets of class 9th textbooks and 6 complete sets of class 10th textbooks were donated during this drive. GMHS Kajheri Principal Ms. Gurmeet Kaur and staff members of the school were also present during the drive and enlightened the school children about the importance of education in their lives.
Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava expressed appreciation for the social outreach endeavours of the college's UBA Cell that envisioned to bring about transformational change in rural development. She expressed hope that the book donation activity will pave the way for developing the habit of reading among students and for achieving the goal of quality education for all.
