Chandigarh Congress spokesperson Harmail Kesri said that where are all those BJP leaders today, who used to protest on bicycles and horse carts when the price of petrol increased from Rs 70 per liter to Rs 71 per liter during the time of Congress. .
Along with his press release, Congress spokesperson Harmail Kesri sent an old photo of former BJP President Sanjay Tandon, in which he along with his colleagues is protesting against the Congress government.
Harmail Kesri took a dig at Chandigarh BJP leaders and asked why you are not protesting against petrol, diesel and LPG now.
Harmail Kesri said that the Government of India has collected a total of 24 lakh crores as excise duty on petrol and diesel in the last 7 years.
Harmail Kesri said that when Manmohan Singh's United Progressive Alliance government was in the country, the price of crude oil in the international market was $144 per barrel, but still then Manmohan Singh's government raised the price of petrol in the country by not more than Rs 75 per liter.
He said that today when the price of crude oil in the international market is 75 dollars per barrel but then petrol is getting 100 rupees per liter in the country. At present, considering the crude oil prices in the international market, at present the price of petrol in the country should be Rs 45 per liter. The work of looting the people of the country is going on by the BJP's Modi government by imposing tax on petrol, diesel.
