L&T-owned Nabha Power Wins Twin Awards at CII Energy Efficiency Summit 2021

Chandigarh 01 September, 2021:- L&T's wholly owned subsidiary, Nabha PowerLimitedhas recently won two prestigious awards at the 22nd National Award Ceremony for Excellence in Energy Management, hosted by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

Nabha Power was adjudged the National Energy Leader 2021 for its continued excellent performance for the third consecutive year in Energy Management. The power producer has been successfully operating a 2x700 MW supercritical thermal power plant at Rajpura, Punjab since 2014.

The company also received the Excellent Energy Efficiency Unit award for outstanding achievements in Energy Efficiency.Nabha Power plant, based on Japanese supercritical technology, received this award for the fifth consecutive year.

D. K. Sen, Whole-time Director, Sr. Executive Vice President (Development Projects), L&T, said that the CII awards are a testimony to L&T's capabilities in building and operating world class infrastructure facilities and sustaining the efficiency levels to set new benchmarks. In this year also, Nabha Power has been a consistent performer recording an all-time high availability of 99.92% and a plant load factor of 90.3% till date, which is one of the highest in the country.

Nabha Power supplies power to the state of Punjab at one of the cheapest variable costs of Rs 2.93 per unit among Integrated Power Producers (IPPs) in Punjab, despite being located 1,500 Kms away from the mine source.

Nabha Power has in the past also won the Best IPP award from Independent Power Producers Association of India (IPPAI) for 3 consecutive years, High Efficiency and Sustainability Leadership award from Peabody, USA and National Energy Conservation Award, BEE from the Ministry of Power, Government of India.

The company provides direct and indirect employment to more than 3,000 people. It recently launched a mission of planting more than 50,000 trees within its premises and completed the exercise in record time, reflecting its determination for greener and sustainable future.
