Chandigarh August 30, 2021:- With the objective to equip faculty and students with advanced research skills for promotion of quality research, the Skill Development Committee of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, in collaboration with Rajeev Gandhi College of Management Studies, Navi Mumbai, organised a 7-day Advanced Course in Research Skills. Dr. Minakshi Rana, Assistant Professor, Postgraduate Department of Sociology was the resource person for this programme. The week long course focused on coverage of various aspects of research, analysis and related softwares with a view to strengthen research acumen of the participants. From introduction to research problem to discussion on selection of suitable measurement tools, writing review of related literature with the help of online tools, data collection, selection of appropriate statistical tools, data analysis and interpretation of results, presentation of findings, use of SPSS software and introduction to R software, the course gave the participants comprehensive and vital insights into research. More than 100 participants, consisting of faculty members, research scholars and students belonging to Delhi, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Punjab, registered for the course.
Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava congratulated the organising team on the successful organisation of the course. She lauded the course for being a complete package in itself covering all the essential elements of research. Stressing upon the importance of technically sound statistical analysis for quality publication, Dr. Bhargava added that the use of free online research tools facilitates pursuing of quality research without any financial hindrance.
