MCM Celebrates Sanskrit Diwas

Chandigarh August 31, 2021:- The Sanskrit Department of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, under the aegis of the college's Character Building Committee, celebrated Sanskrit Diwas with 'Sanskritmayam'. Comprising Poster Making and Slogan Writing Competition, Sanskritmayam aimed to apprise the students about the world's oldest language, and its beauty and relation to our culture. A total of 40 students from diverse streams participated enthusiastically in the competition. Results of the competition are Riya Pundir of BA-III declared first, Gracy OF BA-II declared second and Arushi of BSc MFT-II declared Third and whereas Consolation were given to Pranamaya Joshi of BA-II and Aditi Joshi of BA-II.

The theme for Poster Making was 'Shubkamna Sandesh in Sanskrit' and that for Slogan Writing was 'Shlokas and Mantras with Hindi Meaning'. The winners were awarded cash prizes and certificates.

Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava lauded this initiative to highlight the importance of Sanskrit language as the oldest language that holds great significance in the ancient history of India. She added that such efforts are needed in order to promote the resurgence and preservation of this language that contains the earliest literature of the world and that has given birth to many other languages.
