Punjab University School of Communication Studies Celebrates 'Hindi Diwas'

Chandigarh 14th September:-  'Hindi Diwas' was celebrated at the School of Communication Studies, Panjab University. The students of the department discussed the History and growth of Hindi journalism, shared the biographies of well-known journalists, recited self composed poems, and got information about the history of Hindi's first newspaper Udant Martand, contributing to Hindi language journalism that began before independence, informed Prof. Archana R. Singh, Chairperson, School of Mass Communication. She further stated that Hindi journalism has contributed a lot to the freedom struggle. Baburao Vishnu Paradkar, Makhanlal Chaturvedi, Madan Mohan Malaviya and Mahatma Gandhi etc. empowered the freedom struggle through Hindi newspapers. Mahadevi Verma's statement, "History is written from journalists' feet," was stated well in the performances by the students of the department. They considered the dignity of Hindi
journalism and highlighted their love for Hindi language through their participation in
the event.

The event was attended by all the students, research scholars and the faculty of school of communication studies.
