Chandigarh 09th September:- Mata Sahib Kaur Public Senior Secondary School, Mohali's class seventh student, Nimrat Kaur has brought laurels by securing Dada Saheb Phalke Best Child Actor award. Nimrat Kaur had played a lead role in a short film 'Heer' made by S Baljit Singh and Mona Singh from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts based in Canada. She received the award in the student category. The Chairman Maj (retd.) Karnail Singh and Principal Ranjit Kaur of the school honoured Nimrat Kaur along with other artists of the film on the school today.
The 13-minute short film revolves around the heart moving story of a child who loses her mother at a tender age. The film narrates her struggle of coping up with harsh realities of life. Now, this film which is made in both Punjabi and English will be showcased in various countries.
While appreciating the performance of Nimrat and efforts of makers of short film, the Principal of the school Ranjit Kaur said that she believes that students should think and dream big. With hard work and sincere efforts nothing remains impossible in the world. In our school, we always strive to develop overall personality of the students. Every child is born with different capabilities and there is need to recognize their talent at the right time so that their skills could be polished.
