Chandigarh 02nd September:- In concern with the visit of the Hon'ble Prime Minister to Chandigarh on the 11th of September, 2015, the Adviser to the Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh along with other senior officials of the Chandigarh Administration today visited various sectors of Chandigarh. The visit was conducted in a CTU bus, which began from the U.T. Secretariat and headed towards PGI and Sector-63, Chandigarh.

The team of senior officers accompanying the Adviser to the Administrator consisted of Home Secretary, Finance Secretary, Inspector General of Police, Municipal Commissioner, Senior Superintendent of Police, Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic), SDM (S), SDM (C) Director Public Relations, Chief Engineer, Chief Architect, Chief Engineer, Municipal Corporation. The visit began with the team heading towards the Bhargava Auditorium of PGI, Chandigarh, thereafter moving to the flats built under the General Self Financing Housing Scheme-2008, Sector 63, Chandigarh.

Commenting on the visit, Vijay Dev, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator said that the main objective of the visit was to ascertain the ongoing preparations for the Hon'ble Prime Minister's visit and survey those sectors, which have been ignored for long, so that work can be initiated for their sustainable development. From an aesthetical point of view, we need to cater to the need and demand of these neglected areas which are never pointed out either by the citizens or councillors or officials as they also constitute an eminent part of the city. We need to change the face of Chandigarh that we are showing to people who travel from other parts to our city. We need to focus on optimum use of land by auctioning vacant lands so that revenue is being generated by them. For the maintenance of these areas a standard operating procedure will be implemented. Areas would be divided territorially and time-bound projects will be given to the concerned deployed officers. The administration would conduct such visits along with regular visits on fortnightly basis.
