Chandigarh 10th September:- PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation of Germany, under its Cooperation Project, organised a one-day workshop on "Innovation, Creativity & Team Building", here today at PHD House to provide hands on, catalytic, action-oriented learning experiences that enable people to embrace, ignite, and develop their ability to be significantly more creative on the job, enabling team members to work empathetically and inventively in a corporate setting.
Sharing that many organizations are launching all kinds of "innovation initiatives" to differentiate themselves from the competition Dr. Praveen Rathee, Regional Director, PHD Chamber said "Corporate creativity and innovation are essential to the growth and survival of any team, company or organization." Creativity, said Rathee, is essential for driving innovation and a commercially competitive spirit. Yet, as organizations grow, the structures they put in place to improve productivity and efficiency often stifles creativity, he stressed. When organizations focus on productivity, they impose rigid procedures that make it difficult for team members to be creative, so it's important that managers support creative thinking.
R.R. Singh, Head HR and Business Development, CINDA Engineering (CTCI GROUP) & Chairman YRS Edutech Infra Pvt. Ltd. said that employees who are supported in their creative endeavors demonstrate significant greater productivity". He mentioned it's good to be individually brilliant and to have strong core competencies but unless you are able to work in a team and harness each other's core competencies you will always perform par below.
Suresh K. Chadha, Honorary Director, Chairman, University Business School, Panjab University, Chandigarh and Professor of International Business & Marketing, University Business School, Panjab said in today's environment innovation & creativity has become an important tool to gain competitive advantage. Creativity is thinking out of box & innovation is about understanding and exploring untapped used needs that require to be addressed in an efficient manner. He addressed the innovative competencies to be possessed by the professionals. Training was supported by practical exercises given to the participants to enhance those skills.
The experts debunked myths of innovation and creativity, by throwing light on ways to enhance innovation and creativity through building effective team communication and stressed on change of attitude from group to team in order to increase productivity.
More than 40 executives from cross functional areas from industries participated the highly interactive session which revolved around real life situations faced by managers supplemented by lectures, presentations, group discussion and exercises.
