Agriculture Minister Panjab Inaugurates Kheti Bhawan Worth Rs. 19 crore 20 Lacs at SAS Nagar

Chandigarh 09th June:- Punjab is an agriculture based state at where the maximum economy depends on agriculture, but due to inappropriate prices of crops the farmers of Punjab as well the entire state has faced a lot of financial loss. This was stated by Agriculture Minister Jathedar Tota Singh while addressing a state level conference on crop diversification after inaugurating the Kheti Bhawan worth Rs. 19 crore 20 lacs at SAS Nagar. He said that earlier the agriculture offices were working in rented buildings at Chandigarh, but now after construction of this Kheti Bhawan, all agriculture offices have cam under one roof which will be beneficial for the farmers as it will save their time, efforts & money.

Emphasizing on reducing the expenses incurred, he said that farmers should adopt crop diversification & allied occupations. Although the farmers are not getting the appropriate worth for their crops even then hardworking farmers are becoming successful. He said that expenses for farming are more as compared to the income. He said that to facilitate the farmers, Centre Govt. should fix the minimum support prices for crops. He said that Govt. of Punjab is taking necessary steps and is committed to improve the financial status of farmers of Punjab state. During this, he said that agriculture experts should provide the technical knowledge of new agriculture practices & should also motivate the farmers for adopting new techniques which are beneficial for improving the production, so that the financial status of farmers could be uplifted. During this he urged that everybody should encourage others for making a drug free healthy society. During this he launched a book on 36 successful farmer of Punjab. Before this, he planted a tree. Then after addressing the press he said that during this crop season sufficient power supply will be ensured for the 4 lacs hectare are which has been selected for direct seeding as compared to the area selected last year i.e. 2 lacs 87 thousand.
Addressing the conference Chief Parliament Secretary Agriculture S. Gurbachan Singh Babbehali said that field officers of agriculture department should directly supervise the cultivation and should generate awareness among farmers to reduce their expenses. He said that with facility of this Kheti Bhawan all offices will work in same harmony, which will be beneficial for farmers.

Director Agriculture Department Dr. Mangal Singh said that although the farmers of Punjab has made great efforts for increasing the crop production but still we have to adopt new modern practices & other allied occupations. As such, department  of Agriculture is fully dedicated to provide cooperation all the time.
