Girls Steal the Show In Class 12th Result By Grabbing Top Positions

Chandigarh 11th May:- Punjabi Mutiyar's today stole the show in crucial +2 examination results by decimating boys to the fringes by grabbing top seven positions besides dominating 75% merit list. Education Minister Dr Daljit Singh Cheema excited over the unique +2 result said that it was gratifying that the education department's focus on improving education level of girl students was paying rich dividends as girls by their commitment and sheer hard work have begun their unique march towards gender equality in the state. It is pertinent to mention that out of total 366 merit holders, 268 positions were snatched by the girl students. Even in the sports category in the merit list, the girl power was prominently visible with 21 girls out of 29 sports merit holders leaving only eight positions for boys.

Education Minister Dr Daljit Singh Cheema has congratulated the toppers of class 12th, the result of which was declared today. Dr Cheema has also congratulated the efforts and pains taken by teachers of government schools, due to whose efforts the students have scored well.

In a press release issued here today, Dr Daljit Singh Cheema congratulated the toppers as well as the students who have secured place in the merit list and said that it has been possible due to the efforts and pains taken by the students as well as the able guidance of teachers of government schools. He also congratulated the parents for their dedication. Dr Daljit Singh Cheema stated that the first three position holders would be specially honoured. He said that by bagging first three positions, the girl students have once again proved their mettle. He also congratulated the teachers of government schools and said that it was due to their hard work and dedication towards the students that the results have been excellent.

The Education Minister informed that this time, the overall pass percentage has been 76.24 percent whereas the pass percentage of government schools is 77.99 percent. Besides this, the results of Affiliated and Adarsh Schools are 75.29 percent, results of associated schools are 72.24 percent and the results of Aided schools are 68.34 percent. He said that the Punjab government is committed for providing quality education in government schools and today's results are an example of it. Dr Daljit Singh Cheema has also congratulated PSED Chairperson Mrs Tejinder Kaur Dhaliwal, the staff of PSEB, and teachers involved in checking of examination papers for timely declaration of result. He said that it is for the first time that the checking has been done through table marking.
