CMA organizes a session on making Chandigarh a Smart City

Chandigarh 07th February:- Chandigarh Management Association (CMA) organized a  session on "Making Chandigarh a Smart City" at PHD Chamber, Chandigarh. Smt Poonam Sharma, Mayor, Chandigarh was the chief Guest on the occasion. President, CMA and Chairman, Aryans Group of Colleges, Dr Anshu Kataria presided over the event. The event was attended by Businessmen, industrialists, Professionals, academicians and people from different walks of life.

 Initiating the discussion President, CMA and Chairman, Aryans Group of Colleges, Dr. Anshu Kataria said that Chandigarh may be the first "Smart City" in India as dreamt by our Prime Minister Sh. Narender Modi as Chandigarh is a modern city which has already many components of being smart city. He further said that many foreign countries including Japan, Germany, Sweden, Singapore, Israel, UK, US, Hong Kong and the Netherlands along with many corporates have shown interest in building smart Hi-Tech cities in India.

Mayor, Chandigarh, Smt. Poonam Sharma said that smart cities are based on theories of regional competitiveness, transport, natural resources, human, social capital, quality of life and participation of citizens in the governance of cities. Chandigarh has the right ingredients to take it to the next levels of growth trajectory and it would closely work with the Government, industry, citizens & other stakeholders to make it a Smart City. She further said that being a resident she has affection with the city and want to see City Beautiful as the first 'Smart City' of country. She assured that she will try her best to solve the long-pending issues of residents of Chandigarh.

J.N Vohra, member, CMA said that the self-sustainable, smart city should have uninterrupted power, water, proper sanitation, efficient management of solid waste, decongestion of roads, last mile connectivity and effective use of information and communications technology (ICT). It should have enough green spaces, planned residential and commercial areas with well connected roads and communications.
