MCM College Organizes Blood Donation Camp & National Press Day Celebration

Chandigarh 17th November:- Giving an impetus to the endless endeavors of the college towards the enrichment of the society and selfless service the massive blood donation camp organized by the NSS unit of MCM DAV College for Women, Chd in association with PGIMER, Chandigarh witnessed an overwhelming response from the students and staff of MCM alike. Various dignitaries like Sanjay Tandon, State President BJP, Chandigarh and Prof AK Bahndari, Dean University Instructions PU and others  from diverse walks of life motivated the students at event with their galvanising presence.  The camp registered a total of 656 donors. The zealous and devoted blood donors of MCM contributed a laudable total of 240 blood bags. The donors will be awarded certificates and donor cards which will allow them to avail blood bags from PGI in times of need.

In another event on the same day, The Department of Mass Communication, MCM DAV College for Women, Chandigarh organized an Inter- College PowerPoint Presentation Competition on the topic 'Press as the Fourth Pillar of Democracy' to mark the National Press Day(16th Nov 2014). Students of reputed institutions and departments from PU particiapted in this event. The Chief Guest at the occasion was Mr. Dinesh Kumar, Associate Editor, The Tribune, Chandigarh. Dr. Archana Singh, Associate Professor, SCS, PU and Dr. Harpreet Gill, Associate Professor, Deptt of English, MCM DAV were the judges. The First Prize went to the team from MCM DAV College for Women while the second and third were bagged by MCM DAV College and School of Communication Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh respectively. Ravneet Sandhu from MCM DAV College won the title of Best Presenter.

The Principal of the college Dr.Puneet Bedi commended the spirited participation She remarked that while on one hand endeavours like blood donation brought to fore the humanitarian value system of college, platforms such as National Press Day celebration gave the students a diligent opportunity to transact their views on important issues.
