CME on Diagnosis and management of Sepsis

Chandigarh 23rd November:- The Dept of Medical Microbiology, PGIMER, Chandigarh organized a CME on Diagnosis and Management of Sepsis on 23rd of November. In this CME the Expert Panels of doctors discussed about how patient care can be optimized in ICU by accurate and timely diagnosis of Sepsis. Two experts from The Netherlands, Prof Johan Mouton and Dr Anouk Muller also shared their experience. Prof Arunaloke Chakarbarti, Head and Prof Pallab Ray spearheaded the CME as Chairperson and Co-chairpersons and the CME, targeted towards the Faculty and Residents of PGIMER, was attended by more than150 delegates. Dr Amit Mandal from Fortis Mohali, and Dr Vikas Gautam from the department discussed about the dilemmas and the diagnostic modalities for diagnosis of sepsis. The department of Medical Microbiology is already providing the latest technologies like automated blood culture system for the last 5 years and is the first public sector institute in India to provide these services in routine for patient care. Also, for more than one year department has procured MALDI-TOF, which identifies the infection causing bacteria or fungus in less than 5 minutes. The optimum utilization of the recent technologies for better patient care was deliberated upon in this CME.
