PGI Will Organise CME on Pharmacovigilance

Chandigarh 20th December:------ To sensitize the healthcare professionals on importance of Pharmacovigilance, the Pharmacovigilance Centre, Regional training and Resource Centre, PGI, Chandigarh is organizing a one day CME on Pharmacovigilance on Saturday 21stDecember. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India has started the Pharmacovigilance Program of India (PvPI) to monitor the adverse reactions. The CME will be inaugurated by the Director, PGIMER and will be addressing the need of reporting of adverse drug reactions. The programme will start with a welcome address of organizing Secretary Dr. Bikash Medhi who will later discuss the Causality assessment. Session I, will be on Operational Pharmacovigilance Programme of India. Prof. Dinesh Badyal from CMC Ludhiana will elaborate the Scope of Pharmacovigilance. Prof. H S Rehan from LHMC, New Delhi will discuss an effective Pharmacovigilance System. Dr. Vivek Ahuja from Path, New Delhi will speak about the Innovative solutions to the problem of the Adverse Event under reporting. The session II will detail the Development of Pharmacovigilance. Dr. Anil Gulati from Chicago, USA will detail the process of planning Pharmacovigilance during the development of Novel drug. Prof. NeelamMarwaha, Head of Department of Transfusion Medicine will highlight the recently launched Haemovigilance programme of India. The third session will be on Quality of the Pharmacovigilance. Dr. Vishal Tandon from GMC, Jammu will speak the ADRs Reporting. The CME will be concluded with the Co-ordinators meeting from the North Zone of India. The CME programme will be attended by around 110 participants from the Northern part of India.
